Change way name appears

How to change the way my name appears to other people?
because windows messenger does not allow me to update it
through personal settings in tools option

Is the option grayed out? If so, you'll need to verify your e-mail address in order to
change it. To do so, go to:
https://memberservices.passport.net/uiemailval.srf?id=507&ru=http://messenger.msn.com/
Sign in to Passport when prompted, then click the "Verify Now" button and then the "Send
Mail" button.
