Change System Partition

I had a Windows 2000 Server that had 2 partitions - an OS partition ('C:') and a data partition ('D:'). Because the OS became corrupted, I was forced to format and reinstall Windows 2000 Server. I did it by deleteing the first partion from withing setup and re-creating it. But after the re-install, I found that the OS partition was the boot partition and the Data partition had become the system partition

For backup purposes, I need the C: partition to be completely self-contained. Is there any way to make it the system partition, other than wiping both partitions and starting again

cheers

You probably know this now but you should have just formatted the partition
instead of deleting it. You might try formatting the partition, then boot a
win98 startup disk, run fdisk and mark it as active, then boot the Windows
2000 CD-Rom to start the new install.
