how can i change the colour of the scrollbars so that it is no longer grey
and works well with the colour scheme of the rest of the database?

Allow me to quote a couple of Access MVPs:

Marshall Barton:

"Control Panel - Display Properties - Appearances tab.

But, if you were thinking of doing this for just your Access
program or only one form, this is a Windows wide setting
that you should not mess around with in any one program."
