r-click icon to properties
pick 'change icon' button (or use browse button)
find/pick desired icon
ok to exit.

Unfortunately, the "change icon" button does not exists
for an individual printer. When you go to properties, it
brings up all the properties of that printer.
Do you have any other suggestions?

create shortcut (to desktop)
on desktop right-pick printer

This is the registry key that sets the icon. Windows does read it. But I can't make it change the icon
