change placement on master resized tables

PP 2007 - I have a presentation with 14 master sets and I changed the
placement of a footer item on the master for each set. I did not mess with
anything else. When I viewed my presentation tables were resized. The
resizing seems to be random in that not all tables were resized and the final
resizing was not consistant. Numerous tables were resized so big they did not
fit on the viewing area of the slide. The text in the table did not change I
just had a LOT of white space. In some cases the resized table overlayed
other items on my slide. What the heck caused my tables to be resized and how
do I stop it?

I think changing the footer on the slide masters is a red herring.

But I'm trying to find out what kind of tables they are -- how they were
created or inserted in the first place. Like, was it Excel data that was
copied and pasted onto the slide?

Was the file created in PPT 2003 and then opened and saved in 2007?

I created the tables in PP.

In general it seems that a lot of stuff gets changed when you change
anything in the template. It just ripples through the entire presentation. In
my case I have multiple masters. I guess I need a dummies course on templates.
