Change path to embedded sound file

I have a presentation that has sound bites in it and the
path to the file is shown when I choose 'Edit Sound
Object' from the right-click menu.

Does anyone know how to edit this path in order to point
it to a new location when the file is moved?

I could just reinsert the sound object but it would mean
a lot more work (there are lots of slides).

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

AL

I think you are stuck re-inserting. In the future, you might want to put
all the sound files in the same folder as your PPT. Then insert them.
That way, the path to the files will be relative and if the PPT moves and
the sounds files move with them, they will still work as long as they
stay together in the same folder.

Alternatively, you might want to try to get PPT to embed the sounds into
your PPT. This can only be done if they are .wav files. If they are,
you can set "Link sounds with file size greater than" setting (in the
general options) to something very large (larger than your largest sound
file). Then when you insert the sound, it will be embedded, and you
don't have to have the original sound file at all. If the sounds are not
..wav files, then they have to be linked and you'll always need the
original sound file.

A couple of options here:

Show me the link and let me edit it

If you go the manual route, you'll need to copy the linked file to the new
location before attempting to redirect the link there. PowerPoint won't let
you link to files that ain't there. Most civilized of it. ;-)
