Hi all.My first question is the same as Jason King have posted in September: can users change a Password in W2000 AD when logging in to the AD from W9x clients (i.e. from the client side)
Also can you set/enforce password expiration for the W9x clients in the AD environment? Do we need the AD client or 3rd party sw in order to achieve this
Thank you
IT

Yes. The password change will occur at the server holding PDC role. You use
the same procedure as changing password in NT4 domain. When you expire
password those clients will be aware of this as they were in NT4 domain. You
don't need any additional software. It is good to install AD client
extensions, as this makes Win9x AD aware and they can use search
functionality, some ADSI support and more secure authentication (not
Kerberos though, but NTLM v2). See
http://www.microsoft.com/windows2000/server/evaluation/news/bulletins/adextension.asp
for complete list of features that AD client extensions bring.

Thank you Matjaz.
I just want to clarify the pocedures as few more people are looking for the same answers
For W9x clients will work one of 2 procedures
1) net password /DOMAIN:domain_nam
2) Clients with Outlook installed can use procedure outlined in the q18411
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;18411
