How do I change the opening view of a document?

What I mean is, when I open any document, the view is "Final Showing
Markup," with, of course, all the changes I've made shown . I want it to
simply be "Final." As it is, I open a document, and change the view to
"Final."

Is there a way to default to that view?

Thanks.

Ken,

There may be a better way and I have not tested this, but
I suppose that you could record a macro of the steps for
selecting your desired view and then put that macro text
in an AutoOpen macro to run as each document is opened.

You should not be seeing Final Showing Markup unless you have Track Changes
turned on. Make sure you don't have this feature enabled when you quit Word,
and Word should remember your settings. But see
http://www.mvps.org/word/FAQs/General/SaveViewAndZoom.htm. In Word 2000 and
above, it is easier to get Word to save your environment settings if you set
them using Document1 and then immediately close Word (or leave Document1
open all the time from open to close; I do this by typing a space in
Document1 on starting Word, thus keeping it open all day as a scratchpad).
Otherwise, Word is likely to inherit whatever settings were in effect in the
last document you were working on.
