Hi All,

I am running two Windows 2000 Advanced Servers as
Domain controller and Additional Domain Controller with XP
as workstations. Now we have decided to Upgrade Our server
(hardware side). So i have to use our new Server System as
domain controller. But I dont want to loose my old Domain.
Can we use the New Server System as Domain controller with
the same as Old Server. Is there any possibility for that..

for Example: My Present Domain Controller is Server1 and
Server2 is my Additional Domain controller. domain.com is
my domain name. Now i want my new server Server_New in
place of Server1 with name Server1 and along with Server2
as additional domain controller and domain.com as domain.
I dont want to completly remove all domain controllers and
create a new domain tree.

Please suggest....
Thanks in Advance.
Vamsi.

You can quickly move or clone the hard disks from the old machine to the new
one. Another way is to move FSMO roles from 1 to 2, demote 1 and put it
off-line, install New as 1, promote it, and move FSMO back (optional).
Rename old 1, put it back on-line, and copy the data back to the new 1.
