Interesting to note that since the release of WD the subject matter of these
groups has changed dramatically from. "How do I remove `this and that`
spyware from my com?" to; "My defs won`t update." I hope, not an indication
that users have become so preoccupied with making WD work to the detriment of
good reliable AS software protection which does. An indication, perhaps, that
WD has been released far too early to the world wide computing community. Its
all very well, gathering user feedback in order to develop the application
but to what expense and loss of confidence in MS`s ability to resolve
development problems? If I was the overseeing the WD development team I
would, by now, be asking serious questions. Agreed it is attractive to 99% of
users in that it will be free, but I seriously wonder if MS is taking
advantage by pushing the boundaries so to speak. In other words. To what
extent are people prepared to suffer the frustrations in order to beta test a
program that in its present build should only be evaluated by IT
professionals? I also wonder when MS plans to unveil to the computing
community what antispyware protection is incorporated in their signatures.
Right now we are given a set of defs which protect us from what? When do we
get some specifics and why the clandestine nature of its approach? In
organisations I`ve worked for. Deadlines are set, published and and met if
they have confidence in their own abilities, which ,more than a year into the
development, I think by now it would not be unreasonable to expect. From the
impressions I have gained on here, even the MVPs seem to be kept guessing or
maybe they have their hands tied. If the former is the case. Whats the point
of having a Most Valued Professional if you don`t value them enough to reveal
the true nature of problems encountered, so that they may truly help us to
help you. God only knows, they do a good job under the circumstances as do
the professionals in these newsgroups who publish their feedback and
resolutions. To put it bluntly as one individual posted. They should be on
the MS payroll.
