I've recently upgraded to a new PC with a SATA Hard disk and had used my old
HDD with win2k as the boot disk. However this disk has crashed and I've
brought another 40gig HDD. However when trying to reload Win2k I get "NTLDR
is missing" message. I have formatted the HDD using Maxtor's Maxblast
utility. I went and brought XP but this gets the same problem. What can I do
to load either OS? Win2K is preferred as I have all my drivers in 2K at the
moment

Your new SATA HDD is going to be faster than the (older technology) IDE HDD
so your operating system should be installed on the SATA. You do this by
simply inserting your XP CD and rebooting. You may have to make sure the
BIOS is set to first boot from CD-ROM. Upon rebooting you should see
'Please hit any key to boot from CD' . Then follow instructions. Even
though you've already formatted the disk you'll again have the option to do
so again. It would be a good idea to unplug your new (IDE) drive before
doing this and I'm assuming you'll have the IDE drive set as Slave rather
than Master.
