I'm using my Windows XP laptop with Option iCON 225 (mobile USB modem). Is
there a way to change the NAT settings in Windows XP from Moderate NAT to
Open NAT as recommended for Xbox Live connection?

Hi
X-BOX is a game console so if it is on Open NAT it is not so dangerous.
Putting a computer on Open NAT means exposing it with all the port opened to
the Internet.
A very Big security No No.

You would be advised to buy a combo modem/Ethernet router and ditch the USB
modem. This will allow you to connect the computer and xbox simultaneously,
and there will be no need to reduce the computer's security.

Thanks for the warning about Open NAT in Windows.

Option iCON 225 is a 3G modem, so I have to use it for my 3G connection.
Anyway, instead of using my Windows laptop as a router, I have ordered a
Dovado USB Mobile Broadband Router, so I can connect Option iCON 225 in
that machine.
