Thanks but your reply referenced stuff much too complicted to an old duffer
like me. I use Front Page which normally does it all for me - I type in a £
sign and it appears on the web page ok - well it used to but now it's changed
all on it's own to a ?
Have you got s simpler guide please? You can look at
www.miltonhill.go-plus.net page How to Join if it's any help.

Switch to Code or Split View and up at the top of the page...look for;
charset=windows-1252 change it to: charset=UTF-8 it will be in your last
META tag before your opening BODY tag.

bowlsmaster,

In FrontPage place your insertion pointer where you want the £ to appear.
Choose Symbol from the Insert drop down menu. In the Font choose Arial
Unicode MS, Scroll down until you see the £, click the image and then click
Insert. Then close.

If you don't find the font, click on the F1 key an search for "unicode"
without the fonts.

Thanks Rob.
It finally did the trick - I had already tried changing to a different
symbol without success via "Insert/symbols "

yer welcome, thanks for the feedback
