Whenever I open Explore in XP it always opens to the Start menu file. I have
tried all combinations in Folder Options to change my default to Program
Files. I have failed miserably.

can anyone help please

TIA

Geoff

You're not opening it correctly. Start - All Programs - Accessories - Windows Explorer. If you ask it to open the start menu then it will.

Thanks David but I get the message that the path doesn't exisit or is not in
the directory. How can i rectify this

TIA
Geoff

You're not opening it correctly. Start - All Programs - Accessories -
Windows Explorer. If you ask it to open the start menu then it will.

Right click the Windows Explorer shortcut under Accessories and ensure the command line reads:

%SystemRoot%\explorer.exe

Thanks for that Doug it worked as far as enabling me to get into Explorer.
But I must be thick because i still cant get Windows Explorer to open at
Program Files as a default. It either opens at Start Menu or My Documents.

If you have the answer could I ask you to reply to my Email address as well
as the group, as I shall be away from my usual PC for about a week. Just
remove #2 from the address.

many thansk

Geoff

Right click the Windows Explorer shortcut under Accessories and ensure the
command line reads:

%SystemRoot%\explorer.exe
