There should be a language bar at the bottom which stated French. Double
click on it to bring up the language dialog box. Select English (U.S.). Then
click on the Default button. Ok your way out.

If you are using PowerPoint 2000 and below, click Tools > Language to get
there instead (also work for 2002/XP and above).

Thanks. The language bar at the bottom says Anglais (etat unis) but the tool
bar and instructions are still in French. Is there something else I can do?

The language bar determines the language assigned to text you add in PowerPoint,
which spellchecking and grammar rules apply and so on. It doesn't change the
language version of PPT itself (ie, menu bars and so on).
The answer probably depends on the Office version you use. Let us know about
that.
Meanwhile, you may want to look for Microsoft Office Tools / Microsoft Office
Language Settings and see if that changes your menu bars. I suspect that it
will.
