I have Powerpoint 2003 on my laptop and also have an encrypted disk
(like a logical drive labeled m:) on the harddrive. For security
reasons, I have put my presentations in a directory on the encrypted disk.

Whenever I am in Powerpoit and ask it to open a file, the program always
takes me to c:...\My Documents. But I would like it to take me to M:\My
Documents\Presentations.

Is there a way that I could do that?

Go to Tools > Options > Save and change the "Default file location" to M:\My
Documents\Presentations.

Yes, there is a way to set this folder location:
1. Select "Tools" | "Options..." menu item.
2. In the "Save" tab, set the "Default file location:" to your favorite
folder.
3. Click OK.

Although, the options are listed for saving a presentation, this works for
opening a presentation too.
