Change default Contact folder

Gurus,

I manage a small organization running Exchange 2003 on Server 2003. All
clients are Outlook 2003. There are about 10 users, and almost email is sent
to addresses on the same basic list. Address list were in different states
and content differed from computer to computer, and at time chaos reigned, so
I figured out how to make one central list using the Public Folders.

Can I now go to the individual clients, and change the default Contact list,
so that when the 'Contacts' button is pressed, it points to the new 'shared'
Contact list in the public folders instead of something local?

Also, is there a more 'correct' way to set up a centrally accessible address
list than the one I've mentioned?

No.

No, you've used a good solution. Down the road, you'll probably want to move it to SharePoint.

Another option is to create a Distribution List and then give rights to
those that need it. This will allow them to use their main contacts (which
cannot be changed) and access the folder they need to use. This will send
to the entire list at one time -but if needing a separate contact list then
yes the Public Folder - contact list is your best option. For easy access
you can have them add it to their favorites.

Sue, I haven't read anything about Sharepoint, nor have I spoken to anyone
who has used it, so I'll take your reccomendation as the thing that I needed
to get me to read up on it.

You can take your time. Exchange 2007 will still support public folders but it's the last version to do so.
