Change data automatically

I have some data I print mailing labels from. After I print the report with
the labels, how can I enter that days date in a field on the records that
were printed? One idea I had was doing a find and replace, finding blank
cells in the one field and replacing with today's date. However, I would
like to automate this.

I apologize if this is a dumb question, but I am new at Access.

My query was based on a filter. When I changed the query type to "update",
I couldn't figure out how to apply the filter. I looked at the Criteria
field, but couldn't figure out the syntax for "date/time field = empty".
How do I make this query only show the records that have the "Date_Printed"
field with no data in it?
