I bought my PC while working for a mortgage company. Opening screens in Word, Excel, etc. show Administrator followed by company name and product ID.

I am retired and want to remove the company name.

Registry organization changes do not work.

Do I have to reinstall XP Pro?

I just have MS Word 9.0. This is what I found.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Installer\UserD
ata\S-1-5-18\Products\904071001E872D116BF00006799C897E\InstallProperties
DisplayName REG_SZ Microsoft Word 2000 SR-1
RegCompany REG_SZ
RegOwner REG_SZ

Hope this helps. Let us know.

Opening screens for Office Suite programs show: Administrator, then
company name, then product ID.

Am retired now and want to delete compnay Id. Not in registry as
organization. The company IT boys don't know how to do it. Have
reinstalled XP but it saved old settings.

Do I have to do a clean reinstall of XP Pro?

To fix the "Registered to" information for WinNT/2K/XP, you can use
Start > Run > Regedit.exe to edit:

HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\Current Version\RegisteredOwner

and:

HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\Current
Version\RegisteredOrganization

How this will affect the name displayed in previously installed
applications will vary depending upon each individual program; some
read the registered owner information dynamically, while others read
it only during installation.
