CHALLENGE: Can Anyone Answer This Question Third Time a Charm??????

I have already tried I remember reading in the xp group
about an application running xp setup instead of its own
setup program and there being some change in the
registry or folder or something to make this not happen.
Since it doesn't happen on all machines it is not a
universal problem but one that has me beat I figure
someone must still know the solution.
 
Maybe if you re-explain this in a different way, someone can answer it. I,
for one, don't know what you're talking about.

What "xp group"?
The comma key on your keyboard is next to the full-stop key, please use it!
Oh, I have no idea what you're talking about...
 
1. The XP group referred to is this one, of course, or
maybe it isn't, but I think it is; clear enough??? :))))
2. The AVG Setup program is executing the Windows XP
Install program, the one that installs XP to your
system. I can't be any clearer than that. Or maybe
this: It is the one that runs off the Windows XP CD
Setup Disk and installs XP. I hope that helps. ;)))))
3. I don't like commas; I was in a hurry, take your
pick. :)))) I am out of time again.:))) I will try the
solutions offered. Thanks.
 
Not sure I completely understand the question but I assume that youre
talking about software similar to Dell OpenManage? It runs XP setup for you
and doesnt use the typical install routine to do so. Is that waht your
talking about? Or is it something else that I am just missing?

Could be "unattended setup"?
 
Could be I guess....are you doing an unattend? Sysprep? WINNT.SIF?
Anything like that?

No none of these things. I should have explained that no
other program I have installed is doing this before or
since. The avg antivirus program instead of running its
own setup program starts the windows xp setup program.
The blue screen menu that says Welcome to Windows XP
What do you want to do? 1. Install Windows XP 2.
Install optional Windows components 3.Perform additional
tasks 4.Check System Compatibility You can click on
exit at the bottom and it closes everything but setup
program for avg is also gone.
 
The problem is with AVG. Did you install
to the default directory? It obviously is looking
for setup.exe and then executing the first one it finds.
I have AVG on my XP system in addition to several
ME and 98 systems. Never a problem.
