Hi
Is the Cgi bin used by any particular platform/ language. if I add a cgi-bin
to my root folder will permissions be sorted by the server or do I have to
set them
Thanks
Paul M

It's used by CGI / Perl scripts and the web host would set the correct
permissions on the server.

I believe there are Windows versions of Perl available but there's so much
that you can do with ASP, PHP or ASP.NET that I wouldn't want to do it
unless it was something very specialized. I don't think many web hosts run
Perl on Windows either.

Thanks David
I have always used asp on windows. so is perl used mainly on unix servers
Paul M

Not really, they will mostly run PHP. CGI is very little used these
days.

Absolutely, CGI isn't quite dead yet.:-) It was just the "mostly" part
I objected to.
