I am having trouble hooking up a CF card to a PC 104
stack. I am using a digital logic CF to IDE adapter. I
can read and write files to it, but I can't get any
operating system to boot from it. I have marked it as non
removable and the BIOS recognizes it. I recently got an
email from Tuan Ding Hong stating that the pin
configuration on the adapter may be wrong. Does anyone
know a CF to IDE connector that will work? Or should the
pin configuration be an issue if I can read and write
files to it?

Thanks

Ryan

I haven't run bootprep lately, but I can't even install
windows NT on it. I give that another shot.

Thanks

Hi Ryan,

Did you check your BIOS settings? Sometimes you need to change the Disk
Access Mode option from Dos to Other.

Also some PC104 boards can not support booting from flash and some Compact
flashes are not bootable.

I hadn't any problems with adapters but I think that the fastest way is
using 98' startup and make the compact flash bootable, so if you can boot it
with 98 then it's easy to use Bootprep.exe or instead of that using NTFS
file format.

I use : LEXAR, SANDISK compact flashes and M-Systems flash drives. I had
booting problem with some PC104 systems such as Advanced Digital Logic and
Nagasaki but with ADVANTECH don't find any problem yet.
