Zio has decided not to be included in drives

OS WinXP SP2 (XP does not require a driver) and it has been working for many
months.

My ZIO has stopped showing up in Explorer or My Computer yet when I plug and
unplug I get the acknowledgment sound. It does appear in Device Manager and
under USB devices.

I have googled and tried the various drive letter changes (Manage) but these
don't stick.

Works OK when plugged into my notebook.

any thoughts,

I think there is no drive letter assigned to it.

Go to Computer management > Disk Management > Look for your reader there,
right click on it and choose change drive letter and path...

Tell me if it helps

yes, did all that but the letter (any unallocated up to Z) does not stick.

everything acts as though the drive were recognised all but it showing in
Explorer + I know it is not there because the auto pop up window (which prog
do you want to view contents) no longer appears.

I have even left the USB cable disconnected for 24 hours just to let it dump
anything untoward.

I would try to delete the partition, recreate a new one and eventually
format it in FAT or FAT32. I've read some reports stating that the partition
type could be wrong when formatted with 98 (?)

Tell me if it helps
