Certain web sites cause explorer to close

Certain web sites cause my Internet Explorer browser to
close. If I go to www.wow-com.com my browser closes. If
I go to www.wow-com.com/events I am fine. I just can't
get to the main page. I have this problem with several
websites. Nobody else that I know is having a problem
getting to these same sites. I have loaded all of the
Microsoft update patches as well as running my anti-virus
program. No viruses have been found. Does anyone know
what may be causing this, or how to fix it?

Can you get to the site if you add http://?

Check you Java setting, if both SUN and MS are enable used only one.

If I go to www.wow-com.com/events I am fine.

The first page contains an embedded Java applet.
The second page does not.

Try disabling Java (in Security tab).
