Certain characters on keyborad having strange effect

On an XP machine I started having a problem typing on the key board
characters for example the letter “l†results in the system logging me out,
“e†seems to open windows explorer, etc..
If I reboot the problem is corrected temporarily, then start happening all
over again, does anybody know what is causing this problem?

Two ( or more ) programs using same hotkeys doing different operations
..

Winkey/e opens Explorer. That suggests that one of your Winkeys are
sticking.
