cert. of auth. lost...can I get it from somewhere?

Long story short, I want to reintsall my XP Home Ed...I
have misplaced my envelope and need the # to go thru the
installation. (It was a replacement disc from the
computer co. so it is different than the # they put on my
tower... What can I do? Thanks~

The link below is to page that will give good advise/directive as to the
matter.
At the bottom of same page, you can download a free utility (ViewKeyXP),
said utility will recover the 'Product Key', from the installed
XP-operating-system (easy as blinking, read page a little though).

Even though it was a replacement disk, the number should still be fine. The
number isn't tied to the individual CD.
