When I say no border for a cell I still see a light grey line in some places
at the cell border. What is that and how do I get rid of it?

Thanks,

Mike

I suspect it's the grid lines. Select Tools | Options | View tab and
unselect Grid lines

You can also add a button to your toolbar, to make it easier to hide or
show the gridlines.

Choose Tools>Customize
Select the Commands tab
From the Categories list, select Forms
Scroll down through the list of commands, to find 'Toggle Grid'
Drag the Toggle Grid button to one of your existing toolbars
Click the Close button.

Click the Toggle Grid button when you want to hide or show the gridlines

If you fill the cell with white fill colour, it will cover the cell's
grid lines.

Hi Mike,
If you want to remove the gridline from just one cell then you
must use borders instead of gridlines. Borders and interior
cell color override gridlines. Then remove the borders from
the cell you do not want borders. You will may see the gridlines
at that point so you turn off the gridline display as previously
indicated. {gridlines apply to the entire workbook).

The other way is to just hide the gridlines by coloring selected
cells.
