Hi.
I would like to know, if I put Celeron FC-PGA into adapter to slot1 set by
all jumpers on "auto" (fsb, vlotage ...) I can harm my CPU?
I have placed one on that way and now, on S370 board it won't work properly.

It is possible. In particular I remember frying a coppermine celeron in
an Asus P2L97 using a so-called "super slotket III" which used to be sold
by Newegg.com. Note that the P2L97 is an LX motherboard, which clearly
does not support coppermine CPUs, and that it was purely experimental, DID
work with a previous slotket but the combination of that board with the
super slotket III caused the problem, which I suspect was that the slotket
permanently connected a VID signal, overvolting the CPU. It did let out
the magic smoke, I could smell that it was dead.
The question is, which won't work properly, only the CPU, or the
motherboard, or both? Sometimes a board may need the CMOS cleared
(reset), by jumper or removing battery for a few mintues (while power is
removed from the system).
