CD's burned with XP Pro CD Burner can't be read - why?

I have burned several CD's with the CD Burner that comes with XP Pro - copy
to CD, then write the files to CD.

It looks like it writes them and I can see on the CD itself that some space
is used. But when you insert it and try to read it, it shows the CD as
empty.

Any ideas?
