CDRW will not write

I have a dell laptop and due to previous problems with the CDRW drive I ended
up buying a new one. I have a clean install of Windows XP Prof. on the
laptop and I have used the new CDRW drive to install office and other
programs. But when I put in a blank CD I click on D: and it pops up with D:\
not accessable. This only happens when a blank CD is in the drive. I also
right click on the drive and go to properties and there is no recording tab
under it. It is a LG model GCC-4244N which is a DVD/CDRW.

If you are not using the software that came with the drive then
probably the software you are using needs to be updated. Especially
if this is a new release model. Is this your situation?

OK that fixed the recording tab. Now when I go to write the files to the
CDRW drive it says: There is no disc in the drive. Please insert a writable
CD into drive. Even though there is a blank CDR in the drive. I searched the
knowledge database and alreay did their solution of reinstalling the drivers
and that did not work. Other people that have purchased this drive just said
they plugged it in and it worked right away no problems. Windows XP does
recognize it, right model number and everything. So now I dont know what to
do about the: Insert blank CD in to drive.
