I hope someone can help me with this one?

My HDD failed and I had to do a reinstall of win XP pro. I have all service
packs and updates installed. My problem is on the secondary IDE I have a
DVD-RW (master) and a CD-RW(slave). The CD-RW does not appear in My Computer,
but it appears in the BIOS. I have made the CDRW master/slave and even
changed it over to the primary IDE channel.

Before the crash I had the same problem when I added the 2nd DVD-RW a year
or so ago. At the time I found this MS article Q320553 which says to delete
the upper and lower filters from a registery subkey. The problem now is these
keys don't appear in the registery after the rebuild. I have searched high
and low for further information on this but no luck. Any help would be
greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance,
Poco

I should have mentioned this in my post. The drive doesn't show in device
manager. When you delete the secondary IDE channel in device manager and scan
for changes the "found new hardware" baloon that appears beside the clock,
shows found DVD-RW and CD-ROM. Thanks again
