I have a Philips Series 2400 that I've used for about a
year and a half. About 4 months ago it wouldn't detect
any kind of cd, I know it has power because I can eject
the cd tray. I also know that it has a good connection
with the motherboard because I can tell it to eject the
cd tray from My Computer.

It has done this before, about 8 months ago, and I fixed
it but I don't remember what I did. I've contacted
support by phone and online and that didn't fix it. I'm
considering getting a new CDRW tomorrow but not if it's
possible to fix this one.

Common problem with XP. You will need to correct the upper/lower filters
for the CD-RW unit. Just search this newgroup and you should be able to
locate the info.
