A few months ago my my two pc's at home were devastated by virus attacks. So
After I got everything running again and systems were all redone I find
that on both systems The DVD, the Rewriter, the floppy and zip drives will
not allow access when you put a disc into them. Howevere if you put a disk
into them and restart the system they find the disk and you proceed as
normal. I am baffled and have tried everything I know. Can anyone help. ???

OK, a virus has to access all existing drives to reproduce itself. BUT,
from the point of view of a virus, the last thing the virus wants is for you
to put a CLEAN disk in the system, as the clean disk might contain some kind
of anti-virus software or virus cleaner. Sounds like your systems are still
infested. I'd suggest you back up data files (and NOTHING ELSE) to CDR.
Make sure you have a clean boot disk. Turn off AND UNPLUG both systems for
at least one minute. Boot from a clean disk that is write-protected and
format. Then only install clean software from original CDs.

Of course, you could try some kind of virus cleaning software, but that's no
guarantee you will get it all out. -Dave
