cdrom drive will not read inside windows

My burner just stopped reading discs inside windows but is
capable of booting from a diag disc or windows disc. I'm
only online for web-based email and have not downloaded
anything. Drive shows in BIOS and device manager. Any
suggestions?
 
sounds like a driver problem. try removing the device using Device Manager and rebooting to allow Windows to reconfigure the drive .
