CDROM drive not found

I just replaced a 32x with a 52x in a Compaq Presario 4550. I
connected the new exactly like the old but CD drive is not showing up.
Any help would be appreciated, thanks in advance.

Connected means same jumper setting too?
Double check the cables, in case the end came out of socket.

Check bios setting, see what that channel is set to, if there's
even a setting at all (since we're talking about a Compaq).

Is this new drive really "new", or confirmed working?
