My CD ROM drive I have is recognised in windows as E: drive not D: drive even
though I havent got a D: drive. The CD ROM is attached to a second IDE cable as
master just like instructed to do so in motherbaord instructions (AOPEN AK77
GN600)

Do you have your OS installed yet? Have you FDISKED to see your
partition information?

OS installed (XP) There are no partitions of my hard Drive so in windows it
just shows as C: drive and e: drive no d: drive whatsoever!

Right-Click MY COMPUTER, choose MANAGE. Click DISK MANAGEMENT,
right-click on drive in question, choose CHANGE DRIVE LETTER AND
PATHS, click CHANGE, choose new drive letter from drop down list,
click OK.

It is posible that your system became confused when a startup disk built
a RAMDRIVE at D (a Pseudo disk drive in memory).

So what? It doesn't matter a jot what it is as long as it's not been
assigned the same drive letter as the OS.
