I have a HP9100 series CDR/RW drive. Windows XP loads
drivers for it and device manager says everything is
working correctly but I cant see it in My Computer or
Windows Explorer. I have removed it and let Windows XP re-
install it with the same results. Any sugestions.I

Never mind, I fixed it using Tweak UI and now have total access to the CD-RW
in Explorer/My Computer.

For those of you having a similar problem, I suggest you go to the XP site
and do a search for "power toys" and download this to remedy the problem.

Many readers myself included will like to know too what you did in Tweak UI.

Mike.

Is what you did in TweakUi a secret, or will you share?

You will find a Tree List in Tweak UI that contains "DRIVES" under My
Computer. Expand this to see if your CD drive is checked in the list from
A: to Z: -- if not, just check the letter representing your CD-RW and voila,
your drive will reappear in Explorer and My Computer.

I think when I installed that latest Microsoft Security Update it did
something screwy to the drive letters, so I plan to be cautious going forth
with these Automatic Updates...because it just appears to be "buggy" and
causes additional problems to fix. I'm not advising anyone NOT to install
this latest patch, but be prepared.
