CDR refuses to record

Since upgrading my cdr to a Sony model, I can no longer
write cd-roms. I get the message that the drive is not
accessible. Have checked all connections, and bios. The
strange thing is, that when I put the old cdr back, this
also gives the same message. I am using easy cd creator
6, but have also tried Nero 5 with no luck.
The software that came with the drive (B gold)will write
to it, but not properly, causing errors every time.
Any advice would be welcome

have you tried to remove and then re-install your cd
recording program after you added the cd recorder. the
program might be confused in a way.
