I have just installed Xp and found that my ASUS CDR drive
will not detect blank media. Any software will run ok. but
as soon as i use blank media to do a burn, my buring
software will tell me to insert a blank cd even though
there is one in the drive. i know this is not a problem
with my burning software as it does it with XP burning
software aswell. The burner was working fine on win 2000
as i just used it to back up my system before istalling
XP.
Any help with this problem would be greatly appreciated,

thank you
Ryan

Did you format the CD first?

Change the obvious to the obvious.

No i didnt but i have never needed to before. It has
always worked ok untill XP was installed

I don't know what XP you have (home or Pro) and what burning software you
are using, but I had a similar problem with XP Pro and an ASUS burner, and I
solved it by deselecting the burn feature of XP.

Select the CDR drive, right click mouse, select the burn or recording tab
and deselect the option.

I hope this helps.
