Hi,

I'm getting extremely upset. I'm hoping someone can help me. I downloaded
an avi file from the internet. My computer would not let me view it, it said
I didn't have the right codecs. Well, I figured that out and I could then
see it with Movie Maker. I then proceeded to burn it to DVD so I could watch
it on TV. Well, after the hour it took to burn, i went to view it, and
nothing is there. The screen has three folders. The first has two dashes,
the second says images, and the third says playlist. I've tried them all on
the DVD player and nothing happens. Please tell me what I'm doing wrong, or
how I need to get the information right on the DVD. Thanks!

Hello,

To burn video to a dvd disc you MUST use DVD authoring software This is
because the video needs to be converted to the right format. All good DVD
authoring programs have the ability to add a menu system as well.

You must also have a DVD Writer, an ordinary CD writer will be of no use
(one exception) You can use a program called NERO from www.nero.com and
make a Mini DVD (A short video on a CD disc instead of a DVD) Exactly how
good the quality is on these disks I don't know. In addition, you need a
DVD player that understands Mini DVD

You can create a SVCD video with a basic menu on a CD. The quality is about
the same as a VHS tape. You still need software to do it...Nero also does
that type of disk.

Hope that helps.

You are seeing the folders because you didn't convert the file to a dvd
format before burning it. If you click on the folders, your dvd player might
show them. Mine do. If you want an actual dvd, you need to convert the file
using a dvd authoring program like Nero or Intervideo.

Correct it is very possible, depending on the format of the images, that you
can open the images folder and view them onscreen. It also depends on the
DVD player and whether or not it supports images.
