My host provider supports FP server extensions
and as such I can send form results by email,
and use an MS Access database.

They do not allow CDO.Message or CDONTS.NewMail,
so I cannot do an ASP scripted mailing list.

is there any way to use the email functionality as
provided by server extensions - within ASP
and a database ?

No. Ask your host what ASP mail component do they support or are willing to
support?

If you want to use ASP, what you need is a COM object that is an SMTP
client. Check with your hosting service to see what they do have available
(if anything).

they "tell" me its a Windows 2000 server

I think that allowing strangers like me to send
email from within THEIR server - scares them..............

The email is sent via there SMTP server and I assume that they have to allow
you to send email via your email client. There is no difference other than
it is coming from the web site.

Their logic is flawed.

I don't think so...........

normal email is handled on a different server,
as opposed to their "web" server

BUT .... the web server CDO component use the other server (the SMTP Server)
to send the mail not the web server. The CDO component is a MS component and
fully approved.

This site
http://www.pensaworks.com/prg_com.asp
has a couple of free asp scripts to check what components are installed on
your web server. One for just email components, and one for all components.
Upload the scripts to your web server and run them to find out what's
supports.
