Well, yes, it USED to be! I can't get it to run on my system. I've got
a NEW BUILD Win98FE, with DirectX8.1 and the buffer overrun patch,
latest drivers for my sound card. Very little else on the system.
Installed CDEX 1.51, and when I try to start it, I get the BSOD with "0E
error at 0028:C181E609 in VXD APIX (03). Same problem I had with my
old, cluttered system.

I had recently upgraded from 1.4 because IT wouldn't run on the old
system.

I'm lookin' for something better now.

My CDEX 1.50 works fine at 98SE, but 1.51 crash with the same error
as your one. There must be an ugly bug there...

That very much looks like a driver problem (on whichever end). I checked
the properties of APIX.VXD in my WinME; it is part of the Adaptec ASPI
layer, which is needed for steering CD burners. Maybe a newer version of
the Adaptec ASPI (or maybe you even have to deliberately install an
older one) can fix it.

For the record, I have 1.51 on W98SE and it's fine.

I have W98SE, I can't run v1.51. I instantly get BSOD. I installed v1.50,
runs fine.

In another thread, there is said the cdrip.dll file in 1.51 is
defective. If replaced by one from 1.50, then CDEX 1.51 works.

Thanks for the info. I'll give it a try.
