I have recently recovered from a bad virus and have had
to reinstall windows xp. Since doing this I have had
problems with my cd writer. It does everything correctly
and copies the files over, but then when you put the disc
back in it is empty. This happens with both music and
software, so I am unable to put anything on to disk
although all the processes that should happen ahppen and
the control panel says the device is working properly.
Any ideas? Could it be a driver or something?

After reinstalling windows, update it with SP1 and your problem will be
fixed. There was a flaw with the Roxio component and certain CD-Writers.
Seach the MS knowledge base for more.

I've had similar problems - try dropping the record speed in the drive
properties and see if that helps

I've been on microsoft.com to download sp1 but it is no
longer available. I have downloaded the replacement sp1a
but it still isn't working. Any ideas?
