CD write wizard fails

When trying to burn data to a cd-r using windows xp cd write wizard it fails.
I have 3 different burners available and all fail with the same error. There
is no error number just a statement stating that there was an error while
attempt to write to disk. I have checked the record box in drive properties
to allow burning.

Before going to extremes to track this down, try a new disc - if you have
not done so already.
 
I have tried several discs with the same result. I even tried different
brands of cd-r's but also with same result.
