I have had a LG 8x4x32 CD burner running under Windows 2000 for a year and a
half. Just recently, it will not read OEM or music disks, but it will read
disks that have been burnt! It will not burn a disk at this point, but
Hotburn can do a successful simulation of a burn.
Thinking this might be software related, I have attempted to boot from the
Windows 2000 CD, but it will not boot. When I attemp to access an OEM disk,
I get an error indicating "Please insert disk into Drive D:". I have
cleaned my CD Burner with a disk that has little brushes on it.
I am not too knowledgeable about things of this nature. Does this sound
like the CD Burner is no good? Or does it sound like I have a software
issue? BIOS? I installed a new video card recently. Could this cause
problems for a CD burner? Unfortunately, I did not use my CD drive for a
month or two after installing the video card (except to install video
drivers), so I am not certain if my problem can be traced to the video card.
Thank you for your input.
