cd rom will not autoplay. Windows 2000. Initally it would
open. I think the employee that tried opening the software
did not let it come up automatically. The "my computer"
was clicked, the cd rom drive was "opened with" Corel
wordperfect. I can still open the cd on another windows
2000 pc. I checked the autorun in the systems registry. It
was enabled. (1) I don't know what the cd "opens with".
When I open the cd rom drive, autoplay is an option, but
when I click on it, it does not do anything. Is there
anything else I can check? This is a business based
software program. (not a music cd).
Thanks

Hi Cheryl,

There is a Group Policy that can be Enabled that will Disable Autoplay. Have you
checked it?

For a Windows 2000 computer in a domain, please speak to your Domain Administrator.

For a Windows 2000 workgroup computer (that uses local policies) you can check it
this way:

- Log on as an Administrator, or a member of the Administrators group
- Click Start, click run, type "gpedit.msc"
- Navigate to the following policy:
Computer Configuration or User Configuration\Administrative Templates\System
- Enable the "Disable Autoplay" policy as desired (read the text on the Explain tab
for more information).

And for the registry keys involved in AutoRun/AutoPlay, and for more information on
this topic, see these articles:
