cd transfer to hard drive problem.. pc locks!

Every time i transfer music from a cd to my hard drive from windows media
player or sony sonicstage programme, my computer freezes midway through
transfer.
This happens almost every time.
Any ideas anyone?

Transfer"??? What do you mean? Copy&paste, drag&drop, Sync?
Try using Windows Explorer and copy&paste.
