CD-RWs aren't being recognized by any CD Burning programs

I have this blank CD-RW that is 1-4X writing speed. I put
it into the CD-RW drive and I start up RecordNow (I have
WinXP Home Edition). It says "Please insert a blank CD",
so I eject the CD-RW, put it back in, and the same
message pops up!

I use Windows Media Player 9, and it says the same thing!
How to I fix this???

P.S. I have already set the writing speed to 4X. Does
nothing.

You'll need a packet writing program such as Nero or Roxio's Easy CD Creator
to format the CD-RW disk then it will work like a second harddrive.
You can "drag&drop" or "copy&paste" to the disk at any speed.
Create a data disk and use Windows Explorer not WMP.
Or, you can use the below free programs to burn CDs.
First eject any disks in the drive and close it empty. Open again and
insert the disk, it should read it now.

MediaMonkey Free MP3 Jukebox Player, ripper, Music Library Organizer (3.8mb)

Have you installed DLA (installs after RecordNow)?

Have you right clicked on the CD drive icon and clicked "use with DLA?

Have you right clicked on the CD drive icon and clicked properties and looked at the DLA tab?

Since I don't know what DLA is, no.

DLA is the packet writing program part of RecordNow. It is what allows you to use CD-RW as a giant floppy disc.
