Hello,
I have an HP PC that came with a HP CD-RW and Windows ME. I recently
formatted the drive, reinstalled ME and promptly upgraded to XP Home. Since
I did that the CD-RW is only a CD Drive. Two different recording software
programs I have used don't recognize the drive as a recorder. I have
physically removed the drive and tried two other drives, an HP and a
Phillips, in its place. No difference. I replaced the ribbon cable just to
rule that out. The registry shows the drive as a CD-RW and shows the
recording speed. The properties of the drive shows a recording tab. I
don't know what is left to try. I may just get an external USB drive but I
don't want to shell out money and end up with the same problem.
It looks like CD-RW problems aren't all that uncommon judging from this news
group.
Anyone have any thoughts??
Thanks.
