CD-RW will not write to CDs

I get this error message every time I attempt to create a new CD.

"Your recording device does not support writing to CD media. This option is not availiable with your current recorder."

Thats funny for two reasons. One, if "my recorder" (CDRW) does not support writing to CD media, does that mean I can throw a 3 1/2 inch in there? And two, it worked perfectly fine up until now. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the drive, to no avail. Please help me, I oh so hate HPs.

You right-clicked the drive, clicked PROPERTIES and looked under the
RECORD tab to verify that recording is enabled?
